2 Minutes of Workout can Open Your Hips (Video)

Take two minutes and a half today to feed yourself and your hips!

In this short video, drive you through a sequence of postures that help open the hips. It is super important to keep moving hips throughout life. The hip structure often governs our position and whether or not we are comfortable in our bodies. Tight hips can cause rounding of the spine, shoulders hunched and can be the source of aches and pains all over my back, shoulders, neck, knees, ankles.

And our posture reveals many secrets about how we feel about ourselves. It’s time to be confident and show the world that you love yourself for standing tall!

This sequence focuses on the hamstrings, quadriceps and inner thigh muscles. The class includes a sun salutation, half moon pose, split, standing knee lunge, downward dog and child’s pose. If you have more time, you can enhance the benefits of repeating the sequence three times.

Once you commit the sequence in memory, you can also play with each poster holding longer. The thrust of the knee and child’s pose are especially effective to maintain for two minutes each.

How to make this work if you’re newer to yoga

Note that this is not the sequence of a beginner. If you are new to yoga, modify chaturangas stepping back and down all the way to the ground. Then do a cobra instead of a dog up. Use block crescent or a wall if you need one.
