Do you love to run? If only for 10 minutes at a time? Well keep it up, because for any type of runner (from the recreational runner to ultra endurance athlete) could be adding years to your life.
In the new study published online in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, researchers reviewed 15 years of data from more than 55,000 adults, aged 18 to 100 What they found was really surprising: the runners were a whopping 45% less likely to die of cardiovascular disease. And they were at 30% lower risk of all-cause death. Riders to live three years longer than non-runners half were also found.

What is even more surprising is that these benefits appear to be true even for those who were only working 51 minutes a week (or roughly five to 10 minutes a day). In fact, those who run only one hour a week experienced the same benefits as those who run three times. And the benefits of operation seemed to exist even when taking into account other health factors such as age, sex, weight, smoking and alcohol consumption.
So when it comes to running, no matter what you are eating, how much you drink, and how old you: just get out there for five minutes a day can make a big difference to your health.
So keep it up and not worry about making it through a marathon!
